Chikmagalur

The birthplace of Indian coffee. Planted by Baba Budan on the Western Ghats in the 17th century, Chikmagalur remains the country's most celebrated growing region. Altitude ranges from 1,000 to over 1,900 masl, with volcanic loam soils and reliable monsoon rainfall creating ideal conditions for both washed and natural processing. The region produces some of India's most refined lots: complex naturals, structured washed coffees, and an increasing number of experimental ferments from estate labs.

Araku Valley

A tribal-grower heartland in the Eastern Ghats, where coffee was introduced through government programmes and has since become a significant livelihood crop for indigenous communities. Lower altitude (900–1,100 masl) and a different soil profile than the Western Ghats yield sweeter, more accessible cups with gentle acidity and a clean, soft body. The cooperative model here ensures growers share in export value rather than selling at farmgate price.

Koraput

Koraput district sits in the southern Eastern Ghats of Odisha, a region historically known for tribal agriculture rather than commercial coffee. Arabica has been grown here at moderate altitude on volcanic red-laterite soils, intercropped with native species in a traditional agroforestry model. The district is significantly cooler than the surrounding lowlands, with annual rainfall from both the southwest and northeast monsoons. Odisii Coffee Pvt Ltd is among the first producers in this district to pursue specialty grading and experimental post-harvest processing, opening a new origin for Indian traceable green coffee.
